When touched by enemies, you lose one Xyxon and re-start from the beginning of the each stage.
When you use self distruction, you lose one Xyxon but can keep you in play.

Ultimate cool game, with neo-futuristic image and robotism tone. Xyxolog establishes robotic world with graphic, sound and character designs.
It a kind of great art.
In 1980s, Japanese MSX users receives almost all information via "MSX Magazine".
We usually choose which titles to buy by reading articles and advertisements on it.
But Xyxolog's ad was not placed on that magazine, and it makes this title more mysterious one.
Graphic, sound, charcter design, and less information make Xyxolog has special mysterious existence.
Released before "Marble Madness" ??
Xyxolog has similar image and rule as famous "Marble Madness".
But according to Wikipedia, Marble Madness was released in December 1984, and Xyxolog was released in 1984.
If Xyxolog was started to be developed after Marble Madness, its impossible to be released in the same year.
I had chance to meet core member of Compile, the develop company of Xyxolog. I questioned him that Xyxolog was inspired by Marble Madness or not.
He apparently didn't remember it, but he confirmed Compile at that time never hesitate to imitate popular titles, and he guessed Xyxolog had influence of Marbel Madness.
